Sipoonlahti School Extension was built based on a winning entry in a 2015–2016 architectural competition. The winning entry “Tandem” was designed by Architects Rudanko + Kankkunen and AFKS Architects.

The extension forms a new main facade that opens to the south, towards the schoolyard. It is situated in front of the old red brick part, which stays in the background, on the north side of the plot. The two volumes of the extension are distinguished by facades of different-coloured bricks: the west side is of red brick and the east side dark grey brick. Asymmetrically situated windows form a distinctive feature to the building. The light-coloured interiors with red, green, yellow and blue details are full of natural light.
