Kaanaa Water Tower is a fine example of modernist infrastructure architecture. The city architect of Pori, Olaf Küttner designed the water tower to Kaanaa district, near Yyteri beach in the early 1960s. The 56,7 metres tall building was completed in 1963. It was the tallest water tower in Finland at the time. Kaanaa Water Tower has a lookout cafe which was opened on “Pori day”, September 29th, 1963. Woods surround the building and with over 50 metres high, the water tower rises above the treetops. The brutalist style building has a honeycomb-shaped hexagon distributor reservoir.
